Griffin calls on House to pass budget

LITTLE ROCK
– Second District Congressional candidate, U.S. Army Reservist and former U.S. Attorney Tim Griffin today called on House leaders to move forward, fulfill their responsibility and pass the annual budget resolution, which was due on April 15:

“Simply put, ‘if you can’t budget, you can’t govern.’  That was true in 2006 when Rep. John Spratt (D-SC) correctly criticized the GOP for its own budget woes, and it is true today with Rep. Spratt in charge of the Budget Committee.  Americans want leadership in Congress and certainty that higher spending and ballooning debt will be brought under control.  Without a budget, there is no check against runaway spending.

“The lack of a budget and lack of certainty shows a lack of leadership in Congress, and it is disrespectful of the taxpayer.  With unemployment near 10% and a struggling economy, many families have had to cut their own budgets.  Congress needs to take a cue, show taxpayers some respect and pass a common sense budget that ends the spending spree of years past.
