Calls Perry County voters ‘important part' of team
LITTLE ROCK – Second District Congressional candidate, U.S. Army Reservist and former U.S. Attorney Tim Griffin today named long-time Perryville residents Charles and Mark Smith as his campaign’s Perry County Chairmen.
As chairmen, the Smiths will serve as points-of-contact for Perry County voters interested in supporting Griffin’s campaign to replace outgoing U.S. Rep. Vic Snyder.
Griffin won Perry County in the May 18 Republican Primary with 55% of the vote.
“Perry County voters are an important part of the team we are building for victory in November,” Griffin said. “We will fight for every vote in every county in order to take common sense leadership to Congress and retire Speaker Nancy Pelosi. I am proud to welcome Charles and Mark Smith to our team and look forward to working with them as we reach out to voters in Perry County.”
“Perry County needs common sense leadership in Congress, and Tim Griffin will offer that leadership,” Charles Smith said. “I am calling on all voters--Democrats, Independents and Republicans--to stand with Tim and elect him to Congress.”
“I am worried about the future we will be leaving to the students I teach,” Mark Smith said. “I am supporting Tim Griffin because he is focused on changing the culture in Congress and seriously addressing the deficit and debt our children face.”
Charles Smith finished a 37-year career at Perryville High School in 2001. A former teacher and school counselor, he also served on the board of Counseling Associates from 1999-2009. He also serves the community as an ordained Church of Christ minister.
Mark Smith is a 1991 graduate of Perryville High School and 1995 graduate of Arkansas Tech University. He has served as a teacher at Russellville High School since 1997.
